The 24th Evergreen Phage 2021 conference has taken place!

From August 2 to 5, 2021, the 24th Biennial Evergreen International Phage Meeting, the oldest and most renowned US forum for scientists and enthusiasts of bacterial virus research, was held at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, USA.

These conferences are held every two years. As always, the coordinating committee chair was the conference's founder, Dr. Betty Kutter, a world-renowned and tireless researcher and popularizer of bacteriophages, and Professor Emeritus of The Evergreen College.

This year, the conference was held in a mixed online/offline format – of the more than 500 registered participants, 64 attended in person, while the rest joined the event online.

Video recordings of the conference events (90 oral presentations, 3 workshops), as well as a library of abstracts of scientific papers (116 abstracts and 40 posters) will be available for viewing for registered users until December 1, 2021 (registration is ongoing, but it is paid: https://evergreen.phage.directory/ ).

As Elizabeth Kütter noted in her letter to participants: “ The goal of the conference was to provide the ever-growing ‘phage community’ with the opportunity to network and build strong connections, share skills and ideas for new insights and collaborations .”

She thanked Jessica Sacher and Jan Zheng from the Phage Directory for their expertise and support and invited everyone to subscribe to the weekly Phage Directory newsletter, Capsid & Tail, which introduces readers to bacteriophage research around the world and helps in finding the necessary phages for scientific and clinical needs ( https://phage.directory/capsid ).
